Free Labour Day concert slated for King Street Court
A free outdoor Labour Day concert will be held in downtown Bridgewater at the newly renovated King Street Court September 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.The event, which is organized by the Bridgewater and Area Performing Arts Society (BAPAS) with support from the musicians involved, will feature the talents of Collage, Darren Arsenault, Slow Cooking Cover, the Big Band Refugees and the Trips.
Collage, the opening act, is an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, Celtic, East Coast, Acadian and pop.
Band members Dave Bell, Sharon Jackson, Vonda Laffin, Hank Middleton and Janet Rae are known for their trademark harmony vocals. In 2009 Collage released their debut CD "Scenes from Home," containing mostly original material.
The group, which performs in both English and French, has a busy schedule of gigs from Yarmouth to Halifax.
Darren Arsenault plays blues-infused jazz, country and swing.
Known for his strong banjo and guitar ability, Mr. Arsenault also plays a variety of other stringed instruments. His rhythmic and percussive style comes from his formative years as a drummer.
