My question is if you are put on 30 days probation at work because they say that your interpersonal skills are unsatisfactory and you need to improve the way you work with others and in 30 days all is fine and no recurring issues and they still decide to terminate you , can you still collect unemployment?
You can file, and the process begins. The employer can deny you, and they always do, then you file an appeal. Unless you have been terminated for breaking the law or a serious company policy, you'll get some unemployment. Hopefully this will pass for you soon. It is a horrible feelings to worry about such things.

Work issues?
Jul 02, 2008 by Melissa T | Posted in Etiquette
Ok, I work for the city I live in and we are experiencing major budget issues. Because of this, each department was told that instead of one big Christmas bash we always have, each department is now responsible for having their own events. This means we need to come up with funds for locations, DJs, caterers, etc.
Because of this we took a poll to see who wanted a Xmas party. The majority said they did. So, we created a Xmas Committee which I (stupidly) offered to head. I have organized fundraisers, set up parties, made food, put out tons of MY OWN money towards decorations, snacks, etc. and now I'm at my boiling point.
For weeks we have advertised a BIG 4th of July Hot Dog & Bake Sale. We've passed out & hung flyers, collected some funds (most are holding out till today, the day of the event) & I even reminded each person about the Bake Sale.
I had so many people say 'I'll bring this, or I'll bring that'. I even gave someone cute cupcake holders that were....(more).....
American Flag decorated because she wanted to make cupcakes. I arrive today, with my two trays of baked brownies only to find two other people (out of about 30) brought in stuff. Guess what they brough? BROWNIES! We have nothing but brownies. I am soooo mad. Now I have to go to a store to BUY cupcakes and cookies to try to sell something other than brownies.
My question is this: When has it become OK for people to commit to something, like an event like this, then back down just because they didn't want to do it last minute. Wouldn't it have been polite for them to tell me yesterday they weren't interested? Am I so old-fashioned that I believe that people should stick with their word, or give ample warning that they can't? This is to benefit everyone, not just me, so why do I feel like I am the only one giving half a darn?
Ok, ok, I will now admit, as you all have found out that I am intensely OCD about this stuff! Thanks for letting me vent! :)
Yes, people should stick to their word, and yes, they should say something ahead of time if they can't make it (except for the cases of emergencies, which I'm sure not all 28 people had). What's done is done now… if I were you:
1) I would NOT go out to buy cupcakes or anything else to sell. I would let them see that it's because of THEM, there are only brownies. I wouldn't let them be dependent and reliable on me "to save the day" all the time.
2) It's July now, so there is a lot of time until Christmas and it's not last minute. I would definitely excuse myself from being the head of the Christmas party. If this were the kind of people I'm dealing with, then it's not worth the effort. The pain is more than the gain. Such people always rely on someone else to "make things perfect" and clean their trash while they enjoy their time.
Believe me, if these are the people you are dealing with, then they are certainly not appreciative of your efforts and they don't realize how much time and thought you are putting in this, and holding the party or not will not make a different to them even if they voted in favor of it. The only reason they voted in favor of it is because no one says no for fun without effort. Don't be surprised if only five people show up to the Christmas party because all the others "got hung up on family issues".
