Parenting????

WOW i just read a article that gave info on parenting and discipline, apparently negitive reinforcement ect, is demeaning to children, upsets them and kurbs their creativity! wtf??? so now parents are to be their childs friends rather than parents i can see it now "i don't discipline because it might hurt their feelings" but on the up side prisons are proving to be nice places!
Anyone elses thoughts on todays parenting???

Yes I see this quite often. Punishments are bad bad bad, demeaning and will hurt your child's feelings/psychological well being. All I have to say to that is horse crap.

I'm not about to not give consequences/punishments to my children when they have merited them because it will "hurt their feelings". When my child does something wrong or misbehaves, we call him out on it, we tell him why it is wrong and what the right choice would have been and then we tell him he receives a particular consequence because he chose to disobey. It's called disciplining him and correcting him and it's for his best interest.

I will never not give my child a punishment when it's merited. My child will have discipline, respect, manners and consequences for his actions instilled in him.

To NOT do that will hurt him in the long run. Real life has consequences for every action good or bad. We as parents start teaching that in the home from day one to prepare them to make the good decisions in the real world and avoid making bad decisions.

parenting?

if a mother and father is not married.and they have a child together and the mother yakes the child and skips the country without telling the father is that kidnapping? how can it not be concidered kidnapping?how can it be kidnapping? kidnapping is when someone who isn't the parent takes the kid. if it is your child and you were never married to the person
she took her from england to spain it may not be the same as in USA.

It's abduction, not kidnapping, when the non-custodial parent takes away the child. If it's the custodial parent it's fine.

In football and parenting, score and clock matter

BYU kept doing it, and the clock kept running down, eliminating any chance of a comeback. The Cougars' short-gainers not only wasted precious time, they caused them to run too many plays, multiplying the opportunity for turnovers (which they made time after time).

As they got further behind, my son was going crazy. "Throw the ball down the field," he shouted. "You need three touchdowns! It's the fourth quarter! Stop with these conservative little plays!"

But BYU continued to call plays as though it was the first quarter and the game was tied.

BYU's defense was driving him nuts, too. Instead of defending the run, which was obviously what Utah was going to do, the Cougars seemed to be dropping back into pass coverage, which let the Utes pile up yardage on the ground and keep the clock running as they did so.

If you are a BYU fan, were you as frustrated as my son was as the team slipped further and further behind? It was as though they had forgotten the old adage, "If you're losing, change your game plan."

That said, I contemplate to put in the Come up Summer and Upon of 2010 exploring the parks system of Allentown with my kids. This is the summer my son will done mavin his 2-turn bike (Lawful???), so I lust after us to get out and take advantage of primitiveness more than we ever have.

My resource on the neighbourhood parks is a horrible blog by a resident guy named Andrew Kleiner - here is his blog locate: http://rememberkleiner.blogspot.com/
