They have a point, but I've always gone with the idea of, if it works for you, then great.
You may wish to do as they suggested and have your current statue in a different part of your house.

I am flying on 25th and have a beautiful lord krishna murti which is made of plaster of paris and 7kgs.Can i carry them in baggage or do i have to check in.I am going to wrap in bubble wrap but still i think checking in would break it.Can i carry it in cabin baggage?I am trying to take this statue from 2 years really love it. Please help me providing any information you know.thanks
Since the statue is of plaster paris...its highly brittle. U must wrap it in some soft clothes..thats what I do when I carry pickles in glass jars...and yeah, I guess U can carry the statue in the Cabin baggage but if the Carrier U r flying allows so...since this days the Staff is really restrictive for carrying this kind of non-essential things in the cabin-baggage...Just ask them and also know whats the permissible cabin-baggage weight...like if its only 8kgs...then how will U carry the statue since U really have other things to carry along with U..like baby food, combs and other things..

NEW DELHI: Over 3,000 youngsters in the city are busy these days practising electric guitar leads and drum rolls. Some others are rehearsing for an upcoming play. These hotshots are not your everyday followers of Ozzy Osbourne or Guns 'N' Roses: they are devotees of Lord Krishna and are part of a youth festival on the occasion of Janmashtami. They are among many others who have added a new dimension to the popular perception of this centuries-old festival, which, for long, was limited to jhankis, or small tableaux depicting episodes of Lord Krishna's childhood.
Janmashtami in the capital today is grander and more colourful.
"We are holding a youth festival, which will include a rock music concert of chants, and a theatre performance. About 3,000 students are expected to take part through the festival. We have decorated Lord Krishna idols in a more opulent manner with exotic flowers like orchids and chrysanthemums," said Rishi Kumara Dasa, director, English media, International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Delhi.
