I just started a hatha yoga program, is it normal for beginners to feel a little tense during the poses?
My back feels tense while I'm doing the moves but after I can feel it stretching. Is this normal (for a beginner) and if not does anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong
Absolutely normal. It's good that you don't push yourself and you give yourself time to warm up. The last thing you want to do is injure your back. It sounds like you are listening to your body as yoga teaches you to and not over doing it.
It's normal for even those who practice a lot to sometimes have tight muscles and have to warm them up a bit before they can fully go into poses.
