Ziegler building bigger, stronger, faster CSUB athletes

A competitive athlete is always looking for a way to get stronger and faster. And now, more than 40 years after its opening, CSU Bakersfield has hired a coach to specifically deal with that.
"My job is to make them better athletes," said Brendon Ziegler, 30, who was hired over the summer as the first strength and conditioning coach in CSUB's history.
This is Ziegler's first head coaching job. He was an assistant strength and conditioning coach the last five years at Oregon State. Prior to that he served as an assistant at the universities of Hawaii and Wisconsin. He even had a stint as an intern with the Chicago Bulls.
He works with all CSUB athletic teams, and has workout programs for all athletes.
On most days, Ziegler shows up at CSUB by 5:30 a.m. and can stay as late as 9 p.m.
"We work with the men's basketball program at 6 o'clock," Ziegler said of a typical Monday morning. "We schedule teams back-to-back-to-back. It's only myself and only one facility. It's a revolving door of teams. One team comes out, another team comes in."
