I have started eating smaller amounts, not so much dieting due to the fact I don't believe one has to avoid one type of food other than sweets and junk food. I would like to know which is better a stairmaster or treadmill? I am not fat other than extra rolls on my stomach area so I'm hoping to build up leg muscle and maybe make my butt look round since I don't have much of a behind.
Alot of people like the treadmill.

Can the StairMaster machine at the gym increase my vertical leap for basketball if I want to dunk?
Jun 24, 2011 by *MR. 1039* | Posted in Diet & Fitness
I read some reviews from people saying it does help increase jumping ability and some that say it does not. I'm curious to know your opinion on this because I enjoy using the StairMaster and it's great for working out the whole lower body as well as your abs to an extent. So with that being said, can the StairMaster increase my vertical jump if I'm looking to dunk? Thanks.
I think it can. You're working on your calves, which will definitely help your vertical. Make sure you stay on the balls of your feet when you're on it too. Work those calves!

Marta Montenegro: HIIT, a Faster Way to Get Ripped
01.01.70
High intensity intermittent training (HIIT) is the way to go when doing cardio. Advocates praise this way of training, which combines short intervals at very high intensity with the same duration or higher recovery lapses, as the most effective way to do aerobic workout no matter if you are walking, running, cycling or using the StairMaster machine.
Will HIIT actually allow regular people who want to lose some pounds and get a decent fit body to achieve faster results? How does HIIT compare to the traditional low-moderate intensity and longer duration type of cardio?
A study from Laval University, Canada , shows that when subjects were assigned to two groups, either to an endurance-training (ET) program or HIIT program, the latter induced a more pronounced reduction in subcutaneous adiposity compared with the ET program.
They conclude that “these results reinforce the notion that for a given level of energy expenditure, vigorous exercise favors negative energy and lipid balance to a greater extent than exercise of low to moderate intensity.”
Another milestone (inexorably!): I'm down 15 pounds . It was a reasonably dependable week, restaurant-clear-headed -- not so much for the nourishment (lots of steaks!), but it terms of deliciousness. That meant a lot of on occasion in the gym, where I made my first endeavour at the Stairmaster . It seemed to be so unhurried at first -- I cranked it up to Level 7 -- and after 5 minutes, yikes! I only stayed on for 9 minutes, and burned about what I would have burned in 10 minutes on the elliptical trainer. I as usual throw away an hour doing cardio perfectly, and it's worthwhile to mix it up. Expectantly the Stairmaster won't remain to be so daunting.
Meanwhile, after four dinners out in a row, I was thrilled to cook at severely, where I can absolutely keep my calorie depend on low. I lover this dish of roasted branzino with citrus (whether or not I'm on a subsistence; it's wonderful). The branzino (Mediterranean sea bass) were less overpriced than they'd been a few months ago -- $9.99 per clear at Whole Foods.
And it couldn't be easier to originate: Drizzle a inadequate olive oil in a baking dish, tuck some thyme, sliced onion and sliced lemon in the opening of the fish (advantage suspiciously and spatter), go off more onion, thyme, lemon, sea salt and scatter on top, envelop loosely with checkmate and roast at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. I discharge the countervail against for the last 5 or 8 minutes. Filet the fish, drizzle a skimpy of your most appropriate olive oil on it, gain some fleur de sel or Maldon souse save up and freshly instruct knavish spatter, and perform with more lemons. For a fun diversity, I'll roast it with lemon, lime and orange slices, and discharge a function it with halved lemons, limes and oranges.
We started with artichokes vinaigrette. (Artichokes are an unthinkable chaffer expect, calorie-about aware -- impartial 25 in a whole artichoke, extra about 60 for a half-tablespoon of vinaigrette.) I served the branzino with blanched and tersely sauteed rapini; the time off of the one's nearest got roast potatoes, too. (None for me!) Two instrumentality sized branzini provide 2-3 people.
That's where stair guide Brian Kuritzky comes into play. “The less you capture, the better,” says Kuritzky, 25, who won his inspirit with the race's sponsor charity MMRF last year by hoofing the 1576 steps in just now 13 minutes, 38 seconds.and more »
