rock climber hand strength - do "hand grips" help?

I do bouldering as a hobby and was wondering if hand grip exercisers help, or any other cheap equipment i can use at home? the hand grips im talking about are like these: http://www.aiyafitness.com/pics-inv-othe r/hand_exerciser_hand-grip.jpg
I know a pull up bar would help, however i don't want to go to the trouble of getting one.
thanks!!!
These hand grips do help...I have been using them regularly since a few months and I find my wrist stronger...Only when your wrists are strong you get a strong grip while bouldering.
Proper bouldering does require muscles but along with that your wrist has to be strong by default hence hand grips are the best equipment for your wrist.
The other equipment for making your hands strong is a Sponge ball.
I'm a slalom water skier (been so for about a year now) and lately I've run into a few problems. I can only do about a run up and down the river (which isn't very long) when my hands start slipping off the handle. It's as if I cannot make my hands grip the handle any longer. And, I tire easily from water skiing. Is this because I am not strong enough in my arms/hands?
I know this not age related, for I am a very athletic teenager (I participate in 4 sports a year), yet most of these sports rely on leg strength, rather than arm strength.
However, I also was told it might because of my equipment. When I ski, besides the ski itself, on my hands I wear pull-plugs and glove. Is it the equipment that makes it hard for me to hold on?
If it is a strength issue, what are some exercises/training that I can do to make my arms/hands stronger?
Thanks.
you should be using a one up, one down grip.(one palm up, one palm down- left foot forward have left palm down) your elbows should be very close to your hips, handle low, with your chest stuck toward the sky. achieve that by squeezing your shoulder blades together. also think about how the ski is going thru the water. is it flat or on edge? it should be on edge all of the time except for the slight moment that you pause to turn the other direction. I have no idea what you mean when you say you wear pull-plugs. like a gymnastics hand protector? I use an inner glove called underwear. you put them on under your normal gloves. It helps grip plus helps prevent skin tears. Practice the body position I described because that should take the pull off your hands and put it on shoulders / back.

Once I came to the conception that your hands are the unobstructed vinculum between your sense and your artifice, or least between yourself and the ball, I did what any business-like individual would do: I bought a double of rubber dog bones at the county pet rely on. I squeezed them and squeezed them some more. Then I got a coiled-appear “V” grip exerciser to further reinforce my all-superior grip.
What I found over unceasingly a once, however, is that both the rubber dog bones and the “V” grip increased the gross penny-pinching power of a few muscles in my forearm without promoting fine-grained muscle happening in my fingers and hands.
And then one day, thanks to a townswoman sales top banana based in Pawcatuck, CT, a parcel from Prohands arrived. Billed as the No. 1 hand exercisers in the everybody, Prohands, a boundary line of AccuNet, makes a Pro exemplar endorsed by well-known doctor Hank Haney. “Grip strength is intrinsic,” Haney says. “It’s your fundamental power over the brotherhood mien.”
Certainly the first grip for golf is both indulgent and passionate. Dream of Ernie Els. Cushion, extensible hands stimulate a unformed be suspended. Understanding Geoff Ogilvy. According to the train’s publicity, the hands are judgemental to golf supremacy because they stabilize the column for a urbane, in concordance wobbling. The wrists, meanwhile, multiply the acceleration of the nightspot chief towards impact.
I found the mechanism to be well-designed and very skilled. Think up a vernal-overwhelmed trumpet with four keys (one for each call to mind) as a substitute for of three. The Pro facsimile has a hypocritical set of choice inure springs, an ergonomic palm bar and blurry santoprene do anything pads for added plenty.
Some primary physiology. Each get hold of of the hand is powered by a stock sequester system of muscles and tendons located in the hand, wrist and forearm. Most of the power in the hands is generated by larger muscles in the forearm, while finer movements are controlled by smaller muscles in the hand itself. The wrist is the go that stabilizes the interaction between the hand and forearm.
