Weight Loss - Meal Replacement Suggestion?

I weigh over 500lbs. I have a bad leg due to upper leg lymphoma, and venous insufficiency, and pitting edema in lower leg.
I also have low back issues, so walking has never been am option. I have purchased a pulley exercise system I can do seated. I also ordered a recumbent bike as well. Now i need a GOOD tasting meal replacement. I like chocolate. please let me hear your suggestions!

Exercise machine weight vs. free weight?

Is the weight that is loaded on an exercise machine the same as free weights? For example, if I sit on a machine and set the weight to 240lbs, is it the same as lifting 240lbs of free weights? I am curious because the machine uses a pulley system, sort of like a block-tackle setup which makes lifting weights easier. I haven't experimented to see if the weight feels the same.


No it is a bit different. The machines are designed to specifically target the muscle group being exercised, compared with free weights which are more compound moves. The machines also mean you do not have to 'support' with other muscles, ie. if you did a chest press on a machine, you do not have to worry about the bar moving around so much unlike doing a bench press.

Also with machines, because of how the weight stack is, you are constantly against the gravity of the weights, which makes for a good stretch and contraction. For these reasons it is not the same, however it depends whether you want to target specific muscle groups (Machines) or incorporate other muscle groups - compound - (Freeweights). Hope this makes some sense!!

Sioux County Practices Missing Child Exercise

It may just be a parent's worst nightmare, a missing child. And after a scare earlier this summer in Ida Grove Park, Sioux County decided it was time to try something new. Over 400 acres of land, and one missing child. Those were the circumstances at a mock training event in Oak Grove Park.  Police and fire from Sioux County, along with emergency management and other groups participated in the first of its kind training exercise for missing children.

 "We decided earlier this summer.... After a kid took off that maybe it was a good idea to do an incident out here with search and rescue because its very easy for someone to get lost out here or go over a trail," said Jessica Buffington, Sioux County Conservation Board.

 Over 30 responders searched the entire park, from ponds and fields to heavily wooded areas. After the search began, it only took crews about an hour to find the victim.

And while it is fake, it still looks and feels real. The young gentleman acting as the lost boy was discovered deep in a wooded ravine, with several injuries to his body. The responders took some time to carefully treat his hypothetical injuries, before bringing him to high ground using a rope pulley system.
