Several years ago, I tried out a neighbor's elliptical trainer, and was slightly disappointed. The lower-body part of the exercise mainly worked the glutes and lower abs, and didn't work the quads nearly enough. But yes, you can get an aerobic workout.

Is this something that you'd be motivated to use day after day, even when the novelty wears off? If yes, then go for it. Having a regular exercise program is a lot better than being sedentary.
