Exercise equipment causing internet and cable to crash?

I recently purchased a tread-climber, which is awesome!! However, every time I use it, my internet and my cable freezes. I like to watch tv and/or Hulu.com while working out. But every time I attempt to do the workout and watch anything on cable or internet, they both freeze/crash. This is a very weird problem, I know. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen with their exercise equipment. I've moved the machine to another room, and still experiencing the issues. I have ATT Uverse cable for tv and internet. Any thoughts or advice? THANKS in advance!


You are experiencing EMI "Electro Mechanical Interference" from the motor or the mechanism that creates magnetic resistance, in the tread-climber.

This may be more pronounced if you are using a wireless connection, but will also create interference with a wired connection.

If the modem is in the same room, or just on the other side of the wall, as your tread-climber move it as far away as you can. It is also possible to pick up EMI on the ethernet cable your computer may be connected to.

You may also pick up EMI from speakers or other noisy motors, and RFI "Radio Frequency Interference" from Cordless telephones and microwave ovens in close proximity to the modem.

Without exercise equipment, what are some good ways to burn 500 calories per day?

There is ice on the ground and I have 3 small kids...no walking or anything outside until March/April.
No cables, no medicine ball, no weights
No gym access

This may sound a tad silly, but I used to do it all the time before I got a stationary bike... just put on a fast song that gets you pumped and dance to it. Don't try to look good dancing, the best cardio exercise comes when you pretty much flail around looking ridiculous. Best way to not feel self conscious about it is to either shut yourself in a room away from the rest of your family or get them to join in while you're doing it. In order to ensure that you're getting enough and not just stopping when you get tired, set a timer and make yourself stay in motion for a certain amount of time (like an hour or so). Make sure your playlist is filled with songs that will keep you moving quickly... if you have to stop to find a new song it kind of kills the mood and it's hard to start up again.
I know it doesn't sound very professional, but if what you're looking for is pure cardio, that's the way to go about it in the most entertaining way.
